40Plus Programs

Executives, professionals and managers who are over forty face unique challenges to career transition.

This is not the time to go it alone.

  • You need the professional support and direction which only an organization like 40Plus provides.
  • 40Plus is a non-profit, self-help, volunteer organization providing a proven, education-based program of classroom training, group support from peers, networking opportunities, and lectures on topics of interest to executives in career transition.

At the core of the 40Plus program is a concentrated two-week training program.

  • Widely acclaimed by alumni as "the key to my success" in finding a new job, the program addresses the entire spectrum of the job search.
  • Meeting daily in a small group along with facilitators, topics covered range from dealing with job loss through changing/modifying your career, successful networking, effective resume and cover letter preparation, Internet searches and resumes, interviewing, negotiations and more.
  • This continuously evolving training program will help give focus and power to your job search.
  • Coupled with feed-back from the group and the opportunity to see yourself on video, you will be far better prepared for re-entering the job market.

Regular Meetings With Outstanding Speakers

  • Every Monday morning, there is a regular public meeting of 40Plus.
  • In addition to invaluable networking opportunities, the wide variety of speakers make these must-attend sessions.
  • There is always valuable information and the opportunity to "pick the brain" of experts on the latest trends and best ways to get noticed.

Continuing Support

  • 40Plus believes that no matter how good the training program, continuing reinforcement is necessary to successful career transition.
  • You become part of a Job Club -- a peer support group-meeting regularly to review your job plan, make suggestions and, when necessary, give emotional support and practical advice for an upcoming interview.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteering on a 40Plus committee is what keeps 40Plus vital. Through volunteering, you can increase skills and build credentials for your resume. Committees include Membership, Operations, Marketing, Training, Finance, and Technology.

An Office Away from Home

  • Gain access 24/7 to the 40Plus facilities, equipped with state-of-the-art computers and monitors, Internet access, job/career search periodicals and books, telephone, and fax.

Database and Listservs

  • Get connected to the 40Plus database and listserv to receive important postings on job opportunities from fellow members.

Support

  • More than any one benefit, becoming a member of 40Plus ushers you into a huge support system, boosting your confidence and increasing your knowledge of the job market.

A Lifetime Connection

  • While we all hope that the job we get through 40Plus is "the perfect job," today's employment patterns make it unlikely that it will be the job from which you retire.
  • That's why 40Plus enables members to pay a modest one-time fee and have the chance to return to 40Plus at any time, reactivate their membership and, if desired, take the training class again at no additional charge (upon reactivation, monthly dues resume).
  • 40Plus is literally an investment for life.
