ABOUT THE PRESENTATION:


This workshop provides a simple, practical overview of the job-search process.

Joan will outline specific skills and share creative tools that are necessary and preliminary to an effective, bonafide networking campaign.

She will also share relevant statistics including why “70% of all jobs are found through networking.

Joan M. Sherman

Joan M. Sherman, Job-Search & Career Coach  Founder of netWORKshops LLC   is a job-search and career coach in Washington, DC. Her career spans 30+ years in the commercial and international insurance business then, providing human capital consulting to several Federal government agencies. She has held a variety of professional roles in sales, leadership and management as well as corporate training and organizational development consulting. 

When she launched her business, netWORKshops, in 2013, Joan also served as a part-time career counselor at George Washington University’s Career Center coaching hundreds of students and alumni on the skills required for an effective job search. Examples included writing A+ resumes, assessing appropriate career options and occupations, branding one’s self, networking strategies, interviewing skills and more. With a niche toward millennials, now she provides workshops and individual coaching to a broad spectrum of clients with a particular emphasis on networking. As a community service, she also facilitates one-hour workshops to religious and non-profit organizations including libraries in the DC area. 

Joan has a broad perspective on "The World of Work," knowledge of the business community and understands the importance of establishing a strong network of trusting personal/professional relationships to achieve success. Her goal is to impart her knowledge, experience and "job-search process" to help others develop the necessary skills & tools to find fulfilling careers.

  1. Leave the Dupont Circle Metro Station by the 19th Street SOUTH exit.
  2. At the top of the escalator (street level), turn 180 degrees, and walk a short distance towards Dupont Circle.
  3. Turn right and walk counter-clockwise around the outside of the Circle, past Connecticut and Massachusetts Avenues.
  4. At P Street, turn right . Proceed on P Street past 18th Street.
  5. 40Plus is near the end of the block on the right side, at 1718 P Street, in the Webster House apartment building.
