Jeryl Skinner (the moderator)

Jeryl is an award-winning Sales, Marketing and Business Development professional, and is very proud to have recently joined New York Life.

She is fluently bilingual with English/Spanish, and has 20+ years of national, international and global experience in blue chip multinational organizations including Colgate-Palmolive and S.C. Johnson in Strategic Marketing and Brand Management, and AT&T Wireless (B2B) and Sunrise Senior Living (B2C) in Consultative Sales.

Over the past year, Jeryl was very happy to put her corporate skills to work for 40Plus as its Executive Director. She introduced new procedures, increasing revenue by 85% and net income by 153%. Jeryl thoroughly truly enjoyed her experience with 40Plus and will continue to contribute to the 40Plus mission as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Immediately prior, as Director of Sales and Marketing for Sunrise Senior Living, Jeryl consistently exceeded the monthly sales quota by 100% in her first year, averaging 4 move-ins per month. In the next six months, she exceeded her sales quota by 200%, averaging 6 move-ins per month, with each move-in representing up to $100K in revenue. Jeryl found working with seniors to be very personally fulfilling, and in New York Life, she will make it her mission to help her clients prepare financially for retirement and for the possibility of future long term care needs.

Jeryl has an MBA from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. She recently completed a four-course certification program offered on-line by SUNY on Non-Profit Leadership and Governance.

Al Johnson

Al Johnson began his career with the New York Life Insurance Company in 2009 after a long career in the Luxury Automobile Industry.

 

He has always had a passion for making a difference in the lives of other, and his role as a Financial Advisor has allowed him to fulfill his passion by empowering his clients with the knowledge and clarity needed to take control of their financial futures.

 

Attention to detail, sound listening skills, and great empathy are virtues of his that have made him successful in the financial services industry, and he has become known for having a holistic planning philosophy, with a great blend of Insurance and Investment knowledge.


Al currently serves as a Sales Development Manager with The Greater Washington Office of New York Life. His core function lies in the management and development over 150 agents & Financial Advisors.


In his role as Sales Development Manager, Al’s foundational strategies are rooted in ensuring each and every agent that he trains and develops is given the best chance to succeed. New York Life Insurance Company has one of the most comprehensive training programs available for life insurance Agents and Recruiters in the financial services industry.

Al is a Licensed Registered Representative with NYLIFE Securities holding a FINRA Series 7, 6, 26, 63, 66, and is an Investment Advisor Representative for Eagle Strategies, LLC a Registered Investment Advisor.


Al resides in Laurel, MD with his wife Sailis and son Clarkson. When not working he can be found spending time with his family, or on the Golf course.

Shirley Yong


Shirley Yong is an international, multi-lingual Financial Professional with Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc., who has a rich and well-rounded background in her work experiences around the globe that makes her a strong contender in the business world.

 

Shirley's academic credentials include a Bachelor degree in Hospitality Management and an MBA in Marketing from Johnson and Wales University.

 

After working in the hospitality industry for almost two decades with global service brands: Starwood, Hilton, Wyndham, Shangri-La, Radisson and Accor, Shirley has transitioned her skills and experiences into the financial services industry and partnered with many global fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations to educate families how money works and help clients to achieve their financial security.

 

She is committed to helping thousands of people better their life and build a leadership platform that will transform the future of the financial services industry.

 

She enjoys traveling and volunteering her time and resources to non-profit and charity events. She is actively involved in the Asian American Chamber of Commerce, small businesses, veterans and Christian communities.
