Ms. Van Vlandren will speak on the many unique opportunities in the Washington DC region inherent in an administration change. Jeanne will discuss the role and goals of the Council for Excellence in Government, and the Presidential Transition program as well as give advice on learning more about job opportunities post-election.

BIO

Jeanne Van Vlandren serves as Vice President at the Council focusing on the Presidential Transition programs, Public Service Recognition activities, and the Excellence in Government Fellows programs. Before coming to the Council she served in a number of senior executive positions in the fields of education, energy, human services and labor at the federal, state and local levels of government.

Van Vlandren directed several organizations within the U.S. Department of Education including Director of Regulatory Information Management and General Manager for Students. At the U.S. Department of Energy, she served as Director of the Office of State and Community Programs.

Prior to joining the federal government, she held a variety of appointed positions in the State of Vermont including Executive Director of the Higher Education Planning Commission, Commissioner of Labor & Industry and Chair State Emergency Response Commission. Van Vlandren’s last post in Vermont was Deputy Secretary, in the Agency of Human Services.
