Empowering Experienced Professionals for Successful Career Transitions

Statement of Support:

As an organization that empowers experienced professionals, managers, and executives for successful career transitions, 40Plus of Greater Washington serves professionals of all races and ethnicities. We stand firm in our support of all people who have been affected by the horrendous racist and violent acts in our country.

We condemn the police brutality that led to the tragic and needless death of George Floyd, along with others before him such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Eric Garner. We also condemn the violence, bigotry and systemic racism that has occurred during the past 400 years, particularly against black men and women in our nation. Furthermore, we stand firmly against discrimination of any kind including age discrimination, which frustrates many of our members during their search for new employment.

We offer our condolences to the family of George Floyd, his friends and loved ones. As a way to honor his memory, we stand ready to work with other agencies and community-based organizations, along with the community at large, to end injustice in all its forms against the oppressed and all persons of color.

Job of the Week free e-mail networking newsletter and website for professional communicators

Speaker Website:

Ned Lundquist's Job of the Week free e-mail networking newsletter and website for professional communicators has a cult following of more than 10,000 readers (the 5-digit milestone was reached October 6, 2006).

The job leads are just one reason his faithful followers begin their Mondays (and sometimes Tuesdays through Fridays) with a cuppa and JOTW.

Ned Lundquist, ABC, is a communication professional who has been publishing the "Job of the Week" e-mail newsletter since January 2001. He served on active duty with the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and as a Public Affairs Officer. His last tour of duty was as commanding officer of the 450 men and women of the Naval Media Center in Washington, D.C., where he published the Navy’s flagship magazine, produced the award-winning weekly TV show, and was responsible for Navy internal relations, video production, broadcasting and visual information. He retired as a Captain in 2000.

Ned then joined ShipServ, Inc., an e-commerce provider serving the maritime purchasing industry as vice president of corporate communications, and then became vice president of communication for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

Ned joined Anteon Corporation in 2002 as a senior technical director. He is currently a senior science advisor for Alion Science and Technology in Washington, DC., and supports the U.S. Navy's Surface Warfare Directorate in the Pentagon.

Ned is a native of Auburndale, Mass. He is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, and The American University in Washington, D.C. Ned’s wife, Laura, is from Lihue, Hawaii. They have two children, Tom and Barbara, two cats and a dog.

Plan to join us after the meeting for networking.  Many of us carry our conversations to lunch at the nearby Brookings Institution.

Attire is business casual, recruiters are often present, so we ask all Monday Speaker attendees to contribute to the professional standards and objectives of this important networking meeting.

Doors open at 9:30 for networking and the program starts promptly at 10:00.
