Statement of Support: 

As an organization that empowers experienced professionals, managers, and executives for successful career transitions, 40Plus of Greater Washington serves professionals of all races and ethnicities. We stand firm in our support of all people who have been affected by the horrendous racist and violent acts in our country.

We condemn the police brutality that led to the tragic and needless death of George Floyd, along with others before him such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Eric Garner. We also condemn the violence, bigotry and systemic racism that has occurred during the past 400 years, particularly against black men and women in our nation. Furthermore, we stand firmly against discrimination of any kind including age discrimination, which frustrates many of our members during their search for new employment.

We offer our condolences to the family of George Floyd, his friends and loved ones. As a way to honor his memory, we stand ready to work with other agencies and community-based organizations, along with the community at large, to end injustice in all its forms against the oppressed and all persons of color.

By providing pro-bono support, consultants gain opportunity to maintain their resumes with fresh projects and build a supportive network of clients.  From experience as a non profit manager and pro-bono consultant Ms Fisher will share ideas on how to maintain professional standing irrespective of income. The key is to define your skills and market yourself in the sectors that you support or wish to gain exposure.
Lylie Fisher ( is a coach with a commitment to the potential of individuals, organizations and real world communities. In 1998 the Australian Government awarded Ms Fisher a prestigious Fellowship in recognition of her leadership in the community development and information technology revolution. Ms Fisher went on to accept a three year International Scholarship at San Francisco State University, and has lived in the United States since 1998. For over twenty years Ms Fisher has facilitated dynamic programs that support organizations and individuals to powerfully embrace full change, tackle challenging issues, and foster sustainable innovation.

Plan to join us after the meeting for networking.  Many of us carry our conversations to lunch at the nearby Brookings Institution.Attire is business casual, recruiters are often present, so we ask all Monday Speaker attendees to contribute to the professional standards and objectives of this important networking meeting.
