Empowering Experienced Professionals for Successful Career Transitions

Statement of Support:

As an organization that empowers experienced professionals, managers, and executives for successful career transitions, 40Plus of Greater Washington serves professionals of all races and ethnicities. We stand firm in our support of all people who have been affected by the horrendous racist and violent acts in our country.

We condemn the police brutality that led to the tragic and needless death of George Floyd, along with others before him such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Eric Garner. We also condemn the violence, bigotry and systemic racism that has occurred during the past 400 years, particularly against black men and women in our nation. Furthermore, we stand firmly against discrimination of any kind including age discrimination, which frustrates many of our members during their search for new employment.

We offer our condolences to the family of George Floyd, his friends and loved ones. As a way to honor his memory, we stand ready to work with other agencies and community-based organizations, along with the community at large, to end injustice in all its forms against the oppressed and all persons of color.

The Places in Between: Tools for Tough Times

Speaker Website:

If you are between jobs, how is your job search impacting the quality of your life? What are your most pressing issues? How are other people managing to face this kind of challenge? What’s “normal”?

Networking is not just about getting a job. It is about refreshing your confidence, renewing your energy, and discovering your best self -- all critical pre-requisites to finding the job you need and the work you want.

In this interactive session, you will have the opportunity to learn with others who are going through the same things you are. And, you’ll take away valuable tools to help you navigate the “places in between” in tough times.

Barbara Beizer has over 30 years of experience in leadership and organizational development. As a business leader, Barbara has developed and managed corporate initiatives such as customer relations and quality functions, executive education programs, and management training curricula.

As an organizational development practioner, she has designed and led processes including team effectiveness, strategic planning, leadership development, executive retreats, coaching, mentoring, employee engagement, and change management.

Working as an independent consultant in both corporate and social non-profit sectors, Barbara consults to leadership teams, designs innovative learning experiences, and facilitates large and small groups who want to be more effective in leading their organizations and achieving their goals.

She specializes in working with leadership teams and organizations to move through challenging transitions and become aligned around their collective aspirations and goals.

Barbara divides her time between Washington, DC and New York City where her husband lives. In her spare time, she plays tennis, travels, makes jewelry and has been facilitating community multi-cultural dialogues which began after September 11, 2001 in Virginia.

Ms. Beizer serves on The Transition Network’s DC Chapter Steering and Program Committees, and is currently conducting a special series of Transition workshops for TTN members.
