Empowering Experienced Professionals for Successful Career Transitions

Statement of Support:

As an organization that empowers experienced professionals, managers, and executives for successful career transitions, 40Plus of Greater Washington serves professionals of all races and ethnicities. We stand firm in our support of all people who have been affected by the horrendous racist and violent acts in our country.

We condemn the police brutality that led to the tragic and needless death of George Floyd, along with others before him such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile and Eric Garner. We also condemn the violence, bigotry and systemic racism that has occurred during the past 400 years, particularly against black men and women in our nation. Furthermore, we stand firmly against discrimination of any kind including age discrimination, which frustrates many of our members during their search for new employment.

We offer our condolences to the family of George Floyd, his friends and loved ones. As a way to honor his memory, we stand ready to work with other agencies and community-based organizations, along with the community at large, to end injustice in all its forms against the oppressed and all persons of color.

Monday Morning Speaker: Tom Morris

The Good News for Grey Hair -

with Tom Morris

Tom’s keynote presentation, “Marketing Yourself After 50: Good News for Gray Hairs” has been heard by thousands.

  • Using statistics and conclusions from major Federal government and industry research, Tom quickly shows why changing demographics of our population and changing values of both employers and employees can work in favor of older workers.

  • Tom then highlights five key things successful job seekers do to find new employment in today’s competitive market

“Job finding, like almost everything, is a cognitive behavioral process,” says Tom.  “In ‘Good News” I frame key issues so older workers can think and do differently, more effectively, through career transitions.”

Tom Morris  has helped thousands navigate to new employment faster and more effectively. Certified internationally as a Career Management Fellow and a published author, Tom has been quoted in local and national publications and interviewed on radio and television stations in the United States and Canada.

Tom has led numerous professional and volunteer organizations including four years as Co-Chair of Job Connection, a job fair for people with disabilities, and five years as Chairman of the Board of The Emeritus Foundation, a non-profit organization that paired retired professional volunteers (lawyers, accountants, social workers, scientists, mathematicians, engineers) with local schools and community organizations.
